🌳 Last week, CNCC Vice-Chair @pippaheylings.bsky.social praised the UK’s negotiations at #COP30, but urged the Government to turn words to action and contribute to the #TFFF, a new innovative finance model aimed at keeping our forests standing. We hope they will listen to Pippa’s call.

At last week's COP30 debate, @pippaheylings.bsky.social reminded us that COP30 was the first climate summit to be held since the world surpassed 1.5°C of warming 🌡️

This has driven more extreme weather events ⛈️, threatened crop yields and incomes🌾and put our local environments at risk 🌍

APPG Vice Chair @pippaheylings.bsky.social welcomed progress at COP30 but raised concerns about the lack of agreement on fossil fuels, insufficient national commitments, and the UK’s decision not to invest in the Tropical Forests Forever Facility fund.

Cutting schemes like ECO with no plan to replace them will not help the 6.1 million households living in fuel poverty.

Liberal Democrats want a fully funded long term Warm Homes Plan to cut bills and keep people warm.

Today's Budget should have been a turning point for the UK economy. Instead the Government avoided the single biggest thing we could do to turbocharge economic growth - fixing our broken relationship with Europe and closing the estimated £90 billion Brexit black hole.

Remember the Brexit campaign slogan? The UK economy is now 6–8% smaller, costing each Briton up to £3,700 and the Treasury £90bn a year as a result of Brexit.

We are calling on the PM to restore the funding deficit to ensure all 23 beds at the hospice remain open because everyone deserves access to excellent care right up until the very end of their lives.

I was proud to join relatives of patients who have received care at the hospice, and our friend Rick, who is currently receiving care. Along with my brilliant Liberal Democrat colleagues, we went to Downing Street to hand to the Prime Minister our 15,500+ strong petition.

Today was incredibly special - joined by the most amazing group of people who have felt Arthur Rank Hospice's care first-hand - we delivered our petition to Number 10.

Last night we celebrated ten years of the Paris Agreement ahead of COP30 🌍
