πŸ“£ Hot off the press at #ProcB!

πŸ” Our study checked data/code-sharing policies in 275 eco/evo journals and compliance in Proc B (n=2,340) & Ecology Letters (n=571). Policies exist, but clarity and strictness vary, affecting reproducibility.

πŸ“Š Less than half of Ecology & Evolution journals mandate data and/or code sharing. Policies exist, but big gaps remain.

We propose 7 steps for improvement, including:
βœ”οΈ clear and explicit policies
βœ”οΈ data and code sharing mandate at peer-review
βœ”οΈ monitoring compliance

In a @sortee.bsky.social led joint effort, we assessed data and code sharing in 275 Ecology & Evolution journals and the compliance rates in two journals with a mandate policy.

Data come in many different formats and are used in many different ways, but in many cases, a checklist like this (along with good data documentation) can help you verify if a dataset is in a usable format for most general purposes.

It is incredible (or incredibly sad) how we had to develop a skill of recomposing ourselves after witnessing horrendous scenes of athrocities happening in Palestine just so that we can go back to work instead of crying our eyes out for the rest of the day.

Which Kind of Science Reform What hope is there for science reform, if we can't agree on what to reform? Right now, principles are more important than practices.

How can we reform science? I have some ideas. But I am not sure you’ll like them, because they don’t promise much. elevanth.org/blog/2025/07...

It says "Volunteer to be an R-Ladies curator" with the subtitle "Showcase what you love about R" as well as the link to it! All in dashing purple.
