First evidence of an epidemic in Late Triassic phytosaur community: Colossosuchus techniensis show aggressive periosteal โ€œsunburstโ€ bone growth & resorption. Likely bacterial osteomyelitis suppressed immunity & led to their demise.

โ€œWhy Are We Funding This?โ€ Long-standing myths about โ€œsilly scienceโ€ have contributed to the reckless slashing of government-supported research.

Every year around Thanksgiving, I see tons of grad students post heartbreaking messages on social media about how their loved ones donโ€™t understand or support their decision to study what seems like something pointless or silly.

Perhaps my American Scientist essay can help!

Unsolicited listicle: My list of the most criminally underused/underappreciated phylogenetic comparative methods. Note, I am not involved in ANY of these methods; but I see them as things people are often asking of comparative data but have been surprised at how infrequently they have been cited.
