Hacking group claims to have stolen billions of personal records. How to protect yourself National Public Data, a company that provides background checks and fraud prevention, said "a third-party bad actor" tried to hack into its data with some potential leaks.

"If this information is disclosed…it means that a malicious actor could glean information on you to open new lines of credit, or impersonate you," EFF’s @legind.bsky.social told Sacramento's KCRA3. "Taking some precautions is prudent right now."
