And right before that it took me couple of weeks (!) to convince our coder Dima to stop working on UI (an easy win and a familiar task) and to switch to AI polishing (more complex and less familiar territory).
And he still managed to sneakily do more UI work behind the scenes. Tough life.
Just recently I got in an argument with @arvy.bsky.social about the importance of spending an entire working day to update 3d model of a PC in SeverLink - bc we only have him for 1 day per week, and still have untextured places on the level. He actually talked his way out of this one.

Which can cost your team a looot of time.
All this effort - to hear "well, actually..."

So it's my job to not only choose priorities based on value, but chop them into "clear/easy/fun"
And then hold everyone accountable with "Is what you did this week - what we agreed was most valuable?"
Teams often default to being "nice" & avoiding conflict at the direct expense of own progress.

I used to wonder what's the value of a producer for a tight-knit team like ours (I'm also a writer here). Won't people just do what's important?
Turns out when left unattended, people will most certainly pick what's clear/simple/fun instead.
I had a mental itch I needed to scratch.
So I edited out Sean Connery spoiling what's going to happen next in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (the OG fragment follows). Feeling much better now.

the irony about the show is its title makes you think it's a "good" man turning "bad", but it's a repressed man unleashing himself, before he loses everything and then turns to good. the greatest trick of the arc isn't the audience rooting for a bad guy, it's somehow finding "good" in him.

I am playing Indiana Jones right now, and my god I miss the game design and controls from Tomb Rider Legend (GOAT truly): effortless jumping, clear ledge indication, humor, boss fights with clear rules. Am I asking for too much?
IJ is just endlessly frustrating in the design choices.
