Oh I'm not here to argue that you should. Just that when the $250 was reported, the media made it seem like it was an entirely new fee created out of thin air and didn't report that this raised the already existing fee to $250 from $160.

The fee isn't for the visa exempt (90 days) travel, it's for longer stays and it was raised to $160 under the last administration. It's definitely a stupid move when nobody wants to come here anyway, but this isn't a previously nonexistent fee.
