P.S. — Not all enlisted personnel are "noncoms" (non-commissioned officers). A "petty officer" of any rank (grade) would be considered a "noncom." But a "crewman" (1st, 2nd, or 3rd class) would not.

Yes. "Yeoman" is a RATE. They can be any enlisted (NOT officer) rank. Tho most Trek shows were ambiguous re: enlisted RANKS (called "grades"), ENT was clear: Starfleet enlisted ranks are "Crewmen" (1, 2, and 3 class) and various "Petty Officers." It's not possible to know Rand's actual RANK in TOS.
