Seeking refuge in trivial minutiae, I remember how the Airwolf TV series pilot episode established that weapon selection *had* to be done by a systems specialist (e.g. Santini) sitting in the back, while subsequent episodes showed Hawke could just rely upon a stock clip of a hand pushing the button.

Trump is sending ICE to blue cities to enact the "largest mass deportation program in history" and Chicago is at the top of the list.

I'm calling for every Democratic leader and candidate to stand against ICE, to call for its abolition, and to materially support immigrants.

So can we please all recognise that privatisation does not and CANNOT work for essential utilities, and supposed evidence to the contrary either has such tight regulation it is effectively state-run, or the company is drawing such huge taxpayer subsidies it is effectively state-supported.

Furthermore, the much-vaunted “efficiencies” that privatised companies bring are myths. Reducing the headcount below a workable level and neglecting essential maintenance and investment (beyond one or two showpiece projects designed to deflect criticism) is NOT efficient in the desired sense.

All of this could (and was) predicted by anyone who understands the incentives in capitalism and the kind of people who thrive in it. Tory MPs who voted to remove discharge restrictions and were then *shocked* when water companies exploited it should never have been near power.

Water privatisation has demonstrably failed. Rather than the promised investment in infrastructure, we have seen asset stripping (reservoirs sold off), underinvestment (negligence of vital infrastructure), ballooning debt used to pay executives and shareholders, and disgusting systematic pollution.

So let me get this straight. 2nd degree murder charge for the guy that had a list of dem lawmakers to kill??
