Air pollution from burning fossil fuels causes 100,000 to 200,000 avoidable American deaths per year. At the EPA's statistical value of life of $10 million, these deaths cost America $1 to $2 trillion per year, every year. These costs far outweigh the costs of transitioning off of fossil fuels.

Why are basically no politicians paying attention to this?
My hands cupping a generous handful of dark, crumbly soil, rich with organic compost. The soil is a deep brown textured with fragments of decomposed leaves and plant matter. It rests in the palms and fingers, slightly damp, showing structure and life. The background hints at an outdoor kitchen garden allotment, slightly out of focus - raised beds, autumn light, and the suggestion of recent digging. The image captures the care and transformation of the earth through composting and cultivation.
A year ago this soil was spent. I've worked in compost made from seaweed, chicken and cow manure, oak leaves and bracken. Now it’s rich, organic and full of life. It’s taken time, but it’s ready. Looking forward to planting into it next spring. #homestead 🚜🌾👨🌾🌿

Overhead shot of a blackberry and black cherry crumble in its baking dish with a scoop missing. A serving spoon with crumble remnants rests beside it. Nearby are two small bowls - one with a portion of the dessert, the other filled with black cherries. A quiet moment before it’s shared.
A better look at the cherry and blackberry crumble. I reckon this shot captures it more clearly, and I might just prefer it to the first.

A black stone bowl filled with freshly picked organic strawberries, sitting on an old weathered table. The bowl’s dark surface contrasts with the bright red fruit, adding to the rustic charm of the allotment setting.
Fresh from the allotment - organic grown strawberries at their peak. These are heading straight into a batch of strawberry ice cream later. Nothing fancy, just letting the fruit speak for itself. #GardenToTable 🍓🍓🍧

Bafflingly there are still people out there in the world who think being passionate about nature is “kind of weird”. or “a niche interest”. These people have it all wrong. Nature isn’t some quirky sideline to the main business. It IS the main business. Nature is us.
