There’s a photo of us somewhere holding hands on the first day of school in the UK, aged 4. Now she lives in Bangkok and I live in Australia. Last week, this happened. Hold on to your childhood friends.

You know me - I can politicise anything and now I am politicising Xmas trees. This obsession with co-ordination and perfection is just another example of our collective denial of the chaos and uncertainty of life.

Christmas trees only fulfil their potential when covered with naff family ornaments that evoke happy times past and embarrass teenaged children along the way and I will have no truck with your fancy colour-co-ordinated deccos. This is a hill I will die on.

Oooh enjoy Fay. The weather is just fabulous at the moment. So much to suggest, but to get a sense of the place, you can’t beat a river cruise from Perth (Barrack St jetty) to Freo and a wander around the markets there. Once I realised that Perth is at its best outside the CBD, it all made sense!

So the youngest heads off for her last day at school before moving to a new place for years 10,11 and 12. Ending always come suddenly, however long planned.

286 finalists were announced this week.
With 90,000 lawyers in AU, 18% of whom are <30, that works out at 1 in 56 eligible lawyers across the entire country being a finalist.

Yeah, I’m just not sure how a law firm account uses it socially without it becoming a publishing platform in the end. It’s the organic and personal that makes this good. How can an org do that?

I really hope companies don’t open accounts on Bluesky. Esp law firms. Corporate messaging was an awkward fit with Twitter and I wouldn’t welcome it back here. Anyone disagree?

On the money for most of the commercial practice of law at least. It’s all about the how.
