Thanks for highlighting this. Itβs worth also flagging that beyond the immediate Β£22bn allocated, the Gov expects the total cost of #CCS to 2050 to run to many hundreds of billions. Partly public, partly private - but all paid by us.

The UK just committed Β£22bn to carbon capture and storage β a tech with an 80% failure rate that lets oil & gas greenwash their emissions.

πͺ Public and community ownership
Nine in 10 respondents want to see public and community ownership of energy production expanded, as well as the nationalisation of ports.
π€ A jobs guarantee
92% are in favour of financial support to oil and gas workers who are not able to find equivalent, alternative employment or have left employment to retrain. 89% support mandating companies to provide employment pathways.
π More investment in UK wind manufacturing (85%)
Those surveyed want to see wind manufacturing jobs created in Scotland and the North East of England. 90% also want to see more investment in upgrading ports to enable this to happen.
βΉοΈ UK government support
Almost all of those surveyed (95%) said that the UK government isnβt doing enough to support oil and gas workers into new renewable energy jobs. 88% support fully funded retraining.
π¨New survey finds oil & gas workers want decisive action from the UK government, Scottish government and industry to support the transition β but they arenβt getting it.

π¨ Hunger in the UK ISNβT about a lack of food.
People are facing hunger because they donβt have enough money to survive. The basic rate of Universal Credit is just Β£92 a week, disability benefits are being cut, energy bills are going up and rents are sky high.
Itβs so wrongπ§΅
Working class communities have a long history of anti racist solidarity.
Billionaires poison everything.

We're really excited to see @cescotland.bsky.social's manifesto recommendations for the 2026 Scottish Parliament elections! π Scotland deserves an energy system that serves and benefits local communities - not just corporations' profits. π±
π Read the manifesto: communityenergy.scot/manifesto-fo...
Our first ask is a target: π― 1GW of community-owned energy by 2030.
That's 10x higher than now. Ambitious? Yes, but achievable.
@rescoop.eu say "In EU countries with such goals in place, clear policy signals and investor confidence has led to significant growth of the community energy movement.β

Itβs clear that our energy system isnβt working for ordinary people. Communities must have more influence, ownership and feel more benefit from our energy system.

Hey everyone! Queers for Palestine, Trans Kids Deserve Better, The Dyke Project, London Trans Pride, Fag Revolt and RS21 Are calling the entire queer and trans community to join us outside the vile Wes Streeting's constituency office. We are responding to the Palestinian Youth Movement's call for a 'Siege on Labour' on Monday: When: Monday 4th August at 6 PM Where: 12a Highview Parade, Ilford, IG4 5EP (15 minute walk from Gants Hill central line station) ? Why: Wes Streeting and the vicious 'Labour Party' are accomplices in the zionist-made famine in Gaza. Streeting is also responsible for the deaths of many trans kids past and future. We are taking unified action across the country on Monday with these demands: 1. A full two-way arms embargo on Israel 2. An end to British RAF surveillance flights over Gaza 3. For the British government to use all UN and sanctions levers to force Israel to allow aid into Gaza 4. For David Lammy to resign as foreign minister after lying to the public about arms sales to Israel This government is dripping in the blood of our trans siblings and of the Palestinian people. We must act together to force Labour to meet these demands.
