Larry Summers: "This is way beyond anything Nixon ever did ... this is the stuff of democracies giving way to authoritarianism. Firing statisticians goes with threatening the heads of newspapers, launching assaults on universities, launching assaults on law firms. This is really scary stuff."

Harvard President Garber Tells Faculty He Is Not Considering a $500 Million Deal With Trump
Harvard Is Said to Be Open to Spending Up to $500 Million to Resolve Trump Dispute The sum sought by the government is more than twice as much as the $200 million fine that Columbia University said it would pay when it settled its clash with the White House last week.
Reporting by college journalists sure makes it look like the @nytimes.com went with a Trump admin lie on Harvard. Yikes.
Garber said "the suggestion that Harvard was open to paying $500 million is βfalseβ and claimed that the figure was apparently leaked to the press by White House officials" 1/

Cities of the Near East before the modern era were incredibly beautiful. My favorite would have been Cairo, with its citadel begun by Saladin in the 12th c. This photo from the 1890s shows the ceremonial entrance bottom left, with a big hole in the wall near the center.

It's mostly unexcavated, except at one corner.

Tudor manor houses are uniquely British accomplishments, but they pale in comparison with the native English Yew. I'd kill to have one in my backyard. If you've worn out your magic wand hollering "Trumpum expellamus!" then get one made of yew, famed for its magical potency. This is known.
