Abraham (the former Deputy Director) recently said that losing the measles elimination status was "not really" a concern. I'm glad this guy is gone. It is too bad the person who replaces him likely won't be any better....

The CDC Deputy Director just abruptly resigned after less than 3 months in the position. The instability in CDC leadership continues after the interim Director was removed earlier this month.
It is no wonder the trust in the CDC is so low these days.

Trump Order Aims to Boost Weedkiller Targeted in Health Lawsuits
Trump is trying to get more of the weedkiller glyphosate produced. Never mind the fact that it is terrible for the environment or that it has been linked to cancer in people. Making more glyphosate is important for "our defense readiness". Right, and our health isn't? www.nytimes.com/2026/02/18/u...

There might be some legitimate science to support this, I'm no expert in drug design or approval. It just is odd from them.
Additionally, they are mandating staffers use artificial intelligence in the approval process. Yeah, because AI is so good and NEVER makes mistakes... this will end well...

FDA will drop two-study requirement for new drug approvals, aiming to speed access
The Food and Drug Administration plans to drop its longtime standard of requiring two rigorous studies for new drug approvals.
The US FDA will no longer require 2 studies in order to approve new drugs. They are doing this to speed up approval times. But isn't this administrations issues with the COVID vaccine that it was rushed and studies weren't done? How do they match these two views? apnews.com/article/fda-...

F.D.A. Refuses to Review Moderna Flu Vaccine
The US Government's attack on mRNA vaccines, and vaccines in general continues. The FDA is refusing to review the Moderna mRNA vaccine. Vaccines like this hold promise by allowing more targeted development. This is a shame and will hinder further vaccine development. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/10/h...

Republican House bill guts laws protecting US consumers from toxic chemicals
Bill limits type of science used to determine health risks and gives industry major role in chemical review process
As a follow up on my last post, the House Republicans are trying to gut safety testing for toxic chemicals. This bill would limit the science used to determine health risks. Contact your Representative (especially if they are Republican) and tell them to vote NO. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

What really makes me mad however, is they didn't stop it out of health or environmental concerns. They only agreed with the lawsuit to stop producing it because it only represented 1% of sales. So they only did this because it didn't affect their bottom line. The money over all mentality continues.

US chemical giant to stop producing herbicide called βtoxic cocktailβ by critics
Corteva will discontinue a mixture of Agent Orange and glyphosate, but another of its herbicides will still use Vietnam war-era defoliant
Corteva will discontinue producing Enlist Duo, an herbicide that is a mix of Agent Orange (2,4-D) and glyphosate. Both chemicals have been linked to cancer and ecological damage. This is a good day! Now they need to stop Enlist One that still contains 2,4-D. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Trump has decided that because the leaders of these states have a different political stance than he does, the people of those states deserve to get sick and die. It won't just be these states that suffer, diseases don't obey borders. What happens in one state, affects others.

These two habits are linked to more than a third of all cancer cases
More than one-third of cancer cases are preventable, a massive study finds
A recent study found that the 38% of new cancers in 2022 were attributable to avoidable causes. Smoking tobacco (15% of cancers) and drinking alcohol (3%) were the two highest changeable behaviors. Infection lead to 10% of cancer with HPV leading the charge www.scientificamerican.com/article/thes...
