I'm not sure I've seen it mentioned elsewhere, but LLMs use so many em dashes likely because they were trained on a vast quantity of stolen science fiction and fantasy books (especially indie pub work). Its a well-known joke amongst SFF writers that we overuse em dashes. They stole it from us.

This isn't a complete thought yet, but calling provoked responses to psychologically abusive behavior "reactive abuse" doesn't sit right with me.

I think tyrants win in our world so often because we think it's *always* wrong to fuck someone up, even if they deserve it.

The people in power have nothing to do with the people they’re supposed to represent. So stop listening to and obeying them. We have to build our own world, and we don’t have to go to war first to do it.
