The first thing I did when I saw this story was share it and then immediately tell @taliabhatt.itch.io how happy I was it got published. I’ve pitched this story before to CRICKETS. With how big it’s resonated here I hope editors realize the hunger there is for trans stories to be told. Please.

I think the "far left" and the "near left" generally want similar things, i.e. a safe and comfortable life for all people. I just think we're at a point where we can't rely on our existing framework to provide that anymore. We need to build alternative systems.

What's considered "far" is relative, right? So it's hard to define. But I think there's a divide between those who say "this is a mess we can escape with our existing framework of laws, political parties, legal precedent, etc.", and those who say "those things are going to prevent us from escaping".

I'd love to be wrong--I'd love if Mamdani could usher in true socialism and liberation by being elected mayor. But it's not where I'm putting my energy.

It's not that particular candidates aren't "good enough" for us, it's that we believe having a place in this empire inherently prevents you from making meaningful change.

Much of the "far left" are well read on political philosophy and sociology and so recognize the reality that we're not going to vote our way into liberation within existing power structures.
