Either way, "emotional support" is probably not the only animal he'd like to be πββοΈ
I feel that π
At least know you're not alone in those feelings, though. Solidarity π
It was already absurd and horrifying, and it just keeps getting moreso.

I assume this means "remembering the Alamo" will be banned, since it was a fight to preserve chattel slavery?
(It won't be. This is all about censoring queer and non-white folks.)
There's been an increased push for standardization of course design during my time here at Texas Tech.
The goal is two fold:
1) Delete trans and otherwise marginalized folks from the curriculum.
2) Automate teaching so that it can all be done via precarious labor.
every trans person i see post about the OU suspension knows that the suspended target is trans & a grad student, & has an innate awareness that this is about purging trans employees. every cis person i see thinks the target is a rando professor & that this is about giving conservatives good grades
01.12.2025 00:04 β π 7287 π 2249 π¬ 61 π 87As an openly trans instructor in Texas, I've been targeted by these very same people.
Myself and my work have been openly attacked by legislators and even Project 2025 authors.
They use the same tactics over and over again, and it's always about purging trans folks from the public sphere.
I'm with you on that, and I personally only give zeroes for missing work or clear plagiarism.
My concern is mainly with posts like the one you quoted, which muddy the waters by obfuscating the harm being enacted (purposefully, politically, and maliciously) against the instructor.
The discussion post was released to the public, and it is a clear zero for the fact that it actively and aggressively demeans the very classmates that were expected to read it.
Honestly, if anyone deserves administrative discipline here, it's the student for creating a hostile learning environment.

New poem out from the wonderful @ninthletter.bsky.social!
It's from my WIP dealing with my time in the scouts.

I was really taken by this recent essay by @kategalloway.bsky.social: "Singing Mice and Grunting Reindeer: Musical Representations of the Nonhuman and Relating to Animals in Disney Animated Musica" π

Bambi is a good pick, but some more recent ones might land better. Flow, The Lion King, Zootopia...there's a range depending on how deeply you want to get into anthropomorphism.

27.11.2025 22:26 β π 261 π 40 π¬ 4 π 5THE TRANS AGENDA IS TO KEEP MY F*CKING FRIENDS ALIVE sol rios At 2pm and 2am. Sleep, I remember you. Please, wait for me. I send out 7 reminders to eat a day. Like little paper lifeboats. It's nothing. And it keeps me afloat. I forget to eat too. I need company for my shot. 3ml of Estradiol over facetime. I tell my friend I'm being a baby about it, she says woman up. Daylight savings swallows up the hour in question. I was going to sit in the bathtub until you responded. And I need you to keep you alive for me. Just until Thursday. Just through to 6 am. I can send you 14 dollars for soup. I can lend you my ears. You'll need both hands to hold a heart. Your razor clinking against the counter. In a dream I almost slip into, I reach through the phone and hide the blade in my open palm, before you notice. Text me, I say. In the morning. I love you. I need you alive. We can figure out the rest tomorrow. With or without sleep. With or without the light of the morning.

25.11.2025 22:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Definitely true, but remember that a ton of poems are published online, for free, by lit journals!
The best way to find a poet you want to buy a full collection from is to check out the open access work linked on their website π
Most poetry is published by super small indie presses--or even extensions of lit journals--so they don't have the benefits of speed and/or price that many other genres enjoy.
It comes with the territory, since the market is so small.
Ah, gotcha! Plagiarism is always worseβI'll agree on that π

So much wonderful work coming out all the time, it just doesn't have the public hype that surrounds fiction (especially novels).

It feels a lot like using citations in scholarship--creating a meaningful discussion between you and those working alongside you.
It's not a matter of 'Better' or 'Worse' for me. It's about letting the conversation flow.
