Episode 1 was very poor but I enjoyed it enough to finish. Can't say that about every series.

The team goes really well in the first 50 minutes and then falls apart. At 55 minutes he should have emptied the bench.

I don't have a fix beyond someone taking over the substitutions on match day

As an outsider there are mistakes being made with the bench/sub timings. But it can absolutely get worse.
