Also today, a third teacher sent home info on a class that is about to start, reminding us of the dates. The days she lays for the class were not the same days that were on the registration form we filled out. The whole school seems to be collaborating on confusing parents.

In another chapter of great school communication, two different teachers sent home two different messages today, regretted two different dates that do not exist. October 24 is a Friday. October 27 is a Monday.

Trying to get the kids ready for school in the morning .....
Me: It's time to get out of bed now.
10 year old: Okay, I just need to do one thing first.
Me: What do you need to do?
10 year old: Fall asleep.

The 10 year old is working on learning how to use segues in conversation. "Speaking of slippers, let's do fart noises." I think he still has work to do.

Apparently if it snows, every parent in the district gets to take time off work to homeschool all of their children. Goodie.

Today's (Feb 5) newsletter from the school system included this comment. Why would you not tell us the outcome of the vote that apparently happened yesterday?

I'm realizing lately that one of my biggest pet peeves is bad public communication from organizations of all kinds. Especially organizations that you know have hired communications professionals and still put out foolishness. And it's so freaking common that I'm frustrated by this all the time.

And all this fun before the kids even woke up.

Luckily the first thing I thought of - space heater in the crawl space where the water comes in - worked. So I just had to spend fifteen minutes being angry at me for forgetting to leave a sink dripping last night, before I heard the rush of water returning to the toilet tank.

You know what this 2025 needed to make it interesting? Waking up to frozen pipes. I sure won't take water for granted anytime soon.

Daughter: yes, I'm an angel right now.
