And I just like how it was done, how they deepened his early obsession/love with something like this, that makes sense for his character. Her approval is the most important because she is effortlessly the most valuable. If she loves him, if he conquers her, then he, too, has that value.

So, I don't know. His development in this sense just makes me happy. He doesn't have to fight to prove himself anymore, and that finally gets her approval. They're finally on the same page.

Having others' respect — *especially* hers!! — is how he proves he has worth (and after Huma, of course he thinks like that). But Lale is different because she is worthy without having to fight for it (same way she doesn't have to fight for Murad's love like he does!). She doesn't even need to try.

I don't love all of the decisions made in late s4 regarding Mehmed, but I do love how one of the things he admired about Lale the most was how she did not care if she had others' approval, *because* that is his struggle through so much of this book

One thing on apps w/ achievement systems is that I always wish I could reset them 😅 Not totally; maybe the app still leaves it registered somewhere that I got an achievement on day x.
