Can we deliver a competitive, quality education with $3,900 less per student than the state average? I believe the answer is a resounding no.
Our students and our community deserve better than just "scraping by." They deserve investment. They deserve excellence.
We are already doing more with less. Beavercreek spends $1,700 less per student than the Ohio average. Losing this levy would drop our spending to $12,400 per student—a staggering $3,900 below the state average.
02.11.2025 20:23 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0If this levy fails, we will be forced to cut $18 million. That translates to a loss of $2,200 per student.
02.11.2025 20:23 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0This isn't funding for extras. It's for the essentials: our teachers' salaries, classroom materials, school buses, and the heat and lights in our buildings.
02.11.2025 20:23 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0On November 4th, our community decides whether to renew the levy that provides $18 million for our schools—funding that makes up 1 out of every 6 dollars in Beavercreek's operating budget.

01.11.2025 00:39 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Get out and vote Nov 4 to renew our fixed sum levy. This levy funds 16% of our teachers and administrators. If it fails, we must make cuts. It’s also our last opportunity to maintain the 12.5% state matching funds. Future levy funding is entirely local.
31.10.2025 17:56 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I'm on a panel to discuss vouchers and Ohio's school funding policies this evening. The numbers for Beavercreek are pretty rough. Communities like Beavercreek are stuck funding roughly 80% of our education costs locally.
23.10.2025 12:00 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Adjusted for inflation, the state of Ohio has cut $140 million from the #publicEducation budget over the last two decades. At the same time, they’ve required our schools to do more. The result is a $703 million increase in local #taxes to cover the state shortfall and increased costs.

14.10.2025 11:25 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It would also be wildly antithetical to the First Amendment of the US Constitution for a state to take a position on the value of any religion. I wish our legislators took the time to read the constitutions they swear to uphold.
11.10.2025 20:12 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It's a problem when legislators tell educators what the conclusion of a study should be instead of just asking a subject to be taught. It would be inappropriate and dishonest to teach only positive impacts of any subject. Students deserve to learn both positives and negatives in any subject.

Potential Federal Budgets could cut what little money we get from the Feds. Only the Senate Budget preserves education support.

Supporting students isn’t about “special favors”—it’s about making sure every learner has the tools they need to thrive. That means veterans, students with disabilities, English language learners and so many others get the resources that help them succeed.

On my way home from the first ever Beavercreek Drinks with Dems event. It was a huge success. Massive turnout! Lots of candidates there to meet and greet friends and neighbors. A rewarding and refreshing experience after the last couple days of political angst.
