Birmingham Labour Group stands firmly against the divisive rhetoric propagated by far right groups.
Birmingham is a city celebrated for its diversity and wunity, and we will not allow hate to undermine our community cohesion.
The Council remains committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all residents feel safe and valued.
We stand firmly against the divisive rhetoric peddled by groups like Britain First who are marching in our City on Saturday. We have refused an application to use Victoria Square using our no platform policy. Brum is a strong and diverse city, and we stand together against far-right extremism.

Letter to Cllr Jenkins from Kier Transportation Team following her report of missing gully covers on Billesley Lane. The letter acknowledged that the Incident response team had attended and replaced the covers and made them safe with a full fix to follow.
Some of you will have seen that we had a number of gully covers stolen at the end of last month. Big thanks to
@kiergroup and their Incident Response Team for making these drains safe. #safermoseley

It became clear very quickly that there was a high level of concern from local residents on this one. Lots of misinformation out on social media but the level of concern did show the clear need for the council to engage far more widely ahead of such schemes & proposals.

I have been contacted by many local residents about the introduction of a modal filter (physical barrier) at the junction of Shutlock Lane and Moor Green Lane. As a result of those conversations, I have made robust representations to the Cabinet Member for Transport, Cllr Majid Mahmood, sharing my concerns and asking that the proposals should be suspended. We need to find ways to make our roads safer, and modal filters can be part of the solution, but not in isolation from other measures and not without community support. I can confirm that following my representations, I have heard today that the scheme will not be going ahead as planned and the consultation has also now been suspended.

Birmingham Labour - A statement from Birmingham Labour.
We are appalled by President Donald Trump's recent announcement to seize Gaza and forcibly displace its people. This is not humanitarian aid but an attempt at ethnic cleansing through forced displacement, violating international law and human rights.
We welcome the UK Government's condemnation of this plan, and its commitment to recognising a Palestinian state and bringing about lasting peace and justice to the Middle East through a two state solution. The international community must act now to prevent further conflict and humanitarian disasters.
Birmingham Labour Group stands in solidarity with the people of Gaza and for the preservation of peace and human dignity.
I very much support this statement. π

We need youth centres and we need youth workers. If a choice has to be made then youth workers will always be the one I make. Now we need to call on government to come good with its youth strategy and provide more investment to rebuild local authority services.
