On original post from @richraho that says: Workers under cover of night removed a rainbow crosswalk outside of the former Pulse nightclub, apparently as part of state and federal transportation officials’ aim to wipe “political banners” from public roadways. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/2025/08/21/rainbow-crosswalk-outside-pulse-nightclub-removed-overnight/

Followed by a comment from @nome that says: Their memorials are history. Ours are political. Because as always, there are two sexualities - straight, and political.

Two genders - male, and political.

Two religions - Christian, and political.

Two races - white, and political.

Florida ordered to dismantle Alligator Alcatraz over environmental impact The ruling, which gives the state 60 days to act, comes as Gov. Ron DeSantis plans to convert a prison in North Florida into a second immigrant detention site.

This is a huge win.

This concentration camp should have NEVER existed in the first place.

Not only did the Admin lock people up in the Everglades away from their lawyers & families, they destroyed the environment & trampled indigenous rights.

Good riddance.

I will say - the novels and tie in media is where Star Trek has always shined. If you consider yourself a Trekkie but don’t know the names Diane Duane, Vonda M McIntyre or Una McCormack, then I’m jealous of you because you still have yet to experience the best versions of Star Trek.

I understand disliking the new Cracker Barrel logo because it DOES look less "homey" I guess but I can't imagine actually trying to EXPLAIN why there's a political dimension to that without realizing that you sound like a crazy person.

If you don't "feel safe, even though crime is down" in a city because you occasionally see a homeless person or 'hear about' a crime, somewhere, on Twitter and can't keep from panicking? That's on YOU. You're a WEAKLING. Coward. Move out to the Red Nowhere and shovel some cowshit, - rent is cheaper.

This week in court a white cis woman landlord started *literally crying* when I was doing my opening argument for my client and started saying to her lawyer "how is this allowed? How are these people just allowed to have a lawyer?" through tears, because evidently oppression is when due process

Republicans have made sure that it’s legal to marry 13 year old girls in much of the country, but apparently in this guy’s world, you need to be 26 to marry.

Just had a shitlib try to tell me that 26 is the minimum age to legally get plastic surgery, a credit card, and MARRIAGE, in order to try to defend Gavin Newsom saying that trans adults should be banned from medical transitioning until 26.

Are these people bots, or just that delusional?

The only thing that happened between Thursday-Costa Rica-and Friday-Uganda-
was Mr. Abrego's exercise of his legal entitlement to release under the Bail Reform Act and the
Fifth Amendment. See United States v. Salerno, 481 U.S. 739, 755 (1987). Indeed, the government has done more than just offer these two options in isolation. On Friday evening, the government informed Mr. Abrego that he has until first thing Monday morning precisely when he must report
to ICE's Baltimore Field Office-to accept a plea in exchange for deportation to Costa Rica, or
else that offer will be off the table forever. There can be only one interpretation of these events:
the DOJ, DHS, and ICE are using their collective powers to force Mr. Abrego to choose between a guilty plea followed by relative safety, or rendition to Uganda, where his safety and liberty would
be under threat.
Mr. Abrego has previously explained that this case was part of a larger strategy to retaliate

NEW: Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s defense team says that the government is attempting to coerce him to plead guilty to his criminal charges.

Per filing, the government promised to deport him to Costa Rica if he pleads guilty — and is now threatening to remove him to Uganda if he doesn’t accept the deal.

Trump's DC Occupation Costs 4 Times More Than It Would Take to House City's Entire Homeless Population | Common Dreams Trump's deployment of the National Guard to Washington, DC costs more than 4 times as much as it would cost to simply house every homeless person in the city, according to researcher Hanna Homestead.

Once again, it will save taxpayers money to house the homeless instead of criminalize them.

"After acknowledging the label" implies they were capable of acknowledging the label.

I agree with you in principle, but they did specifically phrase it in a way that precludes all those scenarios.

The "oh you won't compromise and abandon [marginalized group]? enjoy the nazi takeover!" argument rings pretty fucking false when you consider that the horrors of a nazi takeover begin with the abandonment of marginalized groups.

An image of Putin and Trump kissing isn’t funny. It’s homophobic | Lee Hurley This ‘joke’ sends the message that being gay is something to be ashamed of, with horrible effects for actual queer people, says transgender writer Lee Hurley

A lot of memes doing the rounds today, mocking Trump and Putin for being 'lovers'.

Here's something I wrote SEVEN years ago about how it is homophobic.

Can we stop, now, please?

the basic deal for a long time has been that the government pays for much more per-capita rural infrastructure subsidy but does less direct personal subsidy in rural areas than in urban areas, and I think that helps obscure how good a deal rural America is getting

maybe its too blunt of an object but i will go to my grave thinking a big part of why we got here is a refusal to say dumb people and dumb ideas are dumb. we were too polite, and instead we said "that's an interesting take" when we should have said "shut the fuck up, you absolute dumbass."

What Bluesky is doing to Palestinian accounts would be bad enough in itself, as a racist policy, but together with pressure on newspapers not to tell their stories, Google changing its maps to hide the emerging ruins, and so on, it's part of a horrific effort to support genocide.

They are very aware that our traffic clout outpaces other referring social media sites and they are mad knowing they're eventually going to have to cater to us in deference to that reality
