Naturally accuring water is still free dumbass,you can get all the rain water you want,but if you want people to give you stuff that doesn’t exist naturally(clean water,food) you either need a carrots(money) or a stick(slavery).Your ideal world where things get to you magically is stupidly childish.

If my job is to collect,clean,package and distribute water to your house and I don’t get anything in return I’m gonna do something else and you’ll have to do it yourself.This is Econ 101(also profit is the wrong word here you talk about margins which are usually very low for water)

As opposed to your ideal world where someone would be forced to make your water drinkable without any compensation or ability to expend their operations(in the real world water companies have very small margins anyways but you’re economically illiterate so you wouldn’t know)
