Here's a message we received from a striking worker:

"I am writing to inform you that, effective December 2nd, 140 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) across all five Legacy Health hospitals will begin an open-ended strike."

Physicians have been at the front lines, and have seen the results of previous increased regulation of work requirements for Medicaid. People who can not afford prescriptions and preventative care have, and will, tax the emergency department systems.

We met Sadie at the first Portland Chapter Plan Bingo event, in early October.

This is an important issue because every needs healthcare. Everybody should have access to healthcare, regardless of their employment. Sadie shared her personal story about losing her job.

People who have worked in the service industry know that universal health care would make their lives easier. This industry is a crucial part of Oregon, and what can make life here worth living. Unfortunately, these industries are not always able to provide health care coverage.

This is Kimber, a social worker with Multnomah County, and a volunteer with the Portland Chapter of HCAO. We caught up during the Portland Chapter's first Plant Bingo, in early October, raising money, and connecting with folks in Portland about our state's transition to universal health care.

The Jeremy Wilson Foundation provides support to musicians and music industry workers in Oregon and Clark County, Washington as they navigate health-related challenges.

Through the Musician Health & Services Program provided over $35,000 in financial assistance to local musicians in 2024.
