Really energising to see the range of approaches and all the exciting new research at the @manchester.ac.uk School of Biological Sciences Annual Event! A great intro to the school's research culture for a new faculty member like me. Huge thanks to the speakers, organisers and poster presenters! 🙌

Finally, we were brought a fabulous keynote speech from Dame Nancy Rothwell, reflecting on the School of Biological Sciences, introduced by her old PhD student (and our Head of Division!) Prof Dave Brough. An incredible day! 🧠

The afternoon brought 2nd Year PGR student poster prizes - and @dns-uom.bsky.social won two! Charlotte Sutherland won 1st prize and Sophie Jenkins, a runner up 🧠

Lunchtime brought the popular Lightning Talks and @dns-uom.bsky.social had two representatives! Wellcome CDA Fellow @kirasha.bsky.social, talked about Alzheimer's risk after menopause and RA Chris Hoyle talked Inflammation during ageing 🧠

We then had a fascinating talk from our Sir Henry Dale Fellow, @annette-allen.bsky.social talking about circadian clocks in the visual system 🧠
