The bumby snailfish is refusing to get painted at the moment :/ ... I may return to it later or try again.
Black pen on paper drawing of a deer and a lobster riding in the dish of the Voyager spacecraft. The lobster's antennae are tangled with the antlers of the deer, who looks disgruntled.
Sometimes the prompts are unexpectedly compatible. I'd never realized before that lobsters, spacecraft, and deer ALL have antennae! #Inktober #invertober2025 #SpacetoberChallenge

I spent a couple hours last night in a white sucker consume talking to families about how they're not a "trash fish." Here's a quick sketch of a chonk for #SundayFishSketch

Signed with my initials "KG 94" in lower left corner
i didn't find my Kelly Gruber baseball card but look what i DID find in my Card File of Wonders (the card file is itself made of cardboard, and is falling apart) : a ~31 year old #SundayFishSketch, a mini-sculpture based on a Frank Stick painting
Having a little chat with my past self right now
Pen drawing of a Coregonus kiyi. This thing has HUGE eyes
For #SundayFishSketch this week, an in-progress Coregonus kiyi. I’m working on an activity for the general public on why we use genetics to distinguish between species, and my current study system of ciscoes is more than a little notorious for being hard to morphologically ID reliably

Graphite and watercolor quick study of panda corydora by the artist Dhiyanah Hassan. The fish has a unique shape, kinda between an oval and a diamond from its side profile. It has the catfish whiskers near its mouth and black markings around its eyes and a black patch near its tail which give it its common name, panda corydora.
Squeezed in a lil #SundayFishSketch. Panda corydora study, graphite and watercolors. 10mins.

01.10.2025 16:08 — 👍 31 🔁 5 💬 6 📌 0Long story short, loricariid (suckermouth) catfishes living in fast flowing, rocky rivers have thick, collagenous lips compared to those in slow-flowing, muddy rivers, which helps them hold under the flow. Sometimes, art can lead to science instead of the other way around… #SciComm
