After the latest IOC revisions to the #worldbirdlist (IOC version 15.1) I have lost 10 ticks. But since most are relumps of recently split 'species' and are in line with #BirdLifeInternational, I'm not an unhappy bunny and hope instead it heralds the coming soon of a sensible 'unified' list. 🤞

Despite missing the Grey-hd Lapwing, had a superb weekend's birding in Northumberland. Thanks to many local birders for their help and friendliness. A major highlight was seeing my 1st Willow Tit for over 10 years - a bird that has sadly almost completely disappeared from the south-east. #UKbirding

An excellent bird tour to #NorthPeru culminated with this amazing site on the very last morning - an adult male Spectacled (Andean) Bear at Chaparri Reserva Ecologica. Despite a host of spectcular endemic birds, this stole the show.

Just love the pic of the Black Scoter - perhaps you should enter it for Bird Photograph of the Year?

A map of flight paths emanating from breeding colony of gulls, with this caption: Early on, LifeWatch noticed something odd. Most gulls were making daily trips to Mouscron, a city on the French border 65 km away. They went to investigate and found the birds bingeing on discarded snacks at the Roger & Roger potato factory.
Today in relatable science: Gulls making a mysterious daily trip that turned out to be to a potato chip factory

Hi Dave. Yes we moved to Sheringham in May in order to 1) downsize, 2) get away from Sizewell 3) be nearer Fiona's family 4) see more birds; though not necessarily in that order of priority. Only got a small garden but it's secluded and woodland behind, so the mothing should be good. Keep well C & F

Hi there. I've just arrived on Bluesky. I'm a wildlife enthusiast based in Sheringham, Norfolk. I'll be messaging mainly about the birds and the bees but occasionally other stuff too. Here's an image I recently got on Beeston Common close to my home.
