As a lifelong hate-watcher of #BBCQT it's been incredible to see the tone shift in last night's prog with @zackpolanski.bsky.social on. It should have never been that hard to call for common sense - and actually popular - policies. Someone is actually doing it.

Quick 🧡

On #BBCQT - Fiona Bruce said that the audience and public didn't want to press Reform UK on their dodgy links to Russia.

I disagree.

RT if you agree it's in the public interest for Reform to explain about their links to Russian money and bribery!

So Labour want to:
- Reform the ECHR (for the worse)
- Make life much much tougher for Indefinite Leave to Remain visa holders and applicants
- Bring in draconian extra powers to police protest
- Widen facial recognition
- Bring in compulsory national ID
- Deport more people

Not very Labourish.

Maeve Boothby O’Neill died because of a discredited view of ME. How was this allowed to happen? | George Monbiot Chronic fatigue syndrome is as physiological as a broken leg. We must learn all we can from this tragic case, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

This story is one of the most disturbing I've ever covered. It's about how the views of a deeply weird ideological sect affected science, medicine and the media, with devastating impacts on patients. Please read and pass on. This horror has to stop. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

For the first time ever, London has met legal limits for nitrogen dioxide.

When I became Mayor, we were told it would take 193 years. We did it 184 years earlier than expected.

Cleaner air means a healthier city and big savings for the NHS.

Two women die during failed Channel crossing attempt Authorities say the pair died off the coast of northern France after about 100 people set off by makeshift boat.

A tragic reminder that the migrants crossing to England are families, women, children and elderly, not just β€œundocumented men of fighting age” as per Reform BS rhetoric

If you’ve never rioted outside a church or a courthouse because of the fact that over 70,000 british rapists escape punishment each year, then I really don’t think you care about British women being in danger from migrants.

I think you just hate Muslims and brown people.

Faced once more with the question of "who is this for?"

Is there really a population that is attracted by Labour but wants immigration to be tougher in a vaguely specified way? And are they larger than the population who are put off by the same approach?

Keir Starmer's aides are reportedly telling him not to go to the COP30 climate conference, because Reform would attack him for it.
Yes, they might.
And he should wear it as a badge of honour.
Standing up for humanity, for science and a habitable planet.
Where's the hazard in that?

It’s gone so quickly from β€˜boat people’ to all immigrants. So quickly from β€˜I don’t mind if they come here legally and pay taxes’ to β€˜actually it’s anyone foreign’. We are living in the β€˜first they came for’ poem. All to give the population a scapegoat so the super rich can hoard yet more wealth.

Reform will apparently pledge today that they'd abolish indefinite leave to remain - including retrospectively, to people already granted it. Obviously this is a moral abomination but it is also a practical and legal impossibility.

Reform, with 0.7% of all MPs, featured in 25% of BBC's recent 10pm news bulletins Astonishingly, a party with 18 times as many MPs as Reform has received one-third less coverage on BBC News at 10.

British media pumps out daily propaganda pieces for Farage, fails to offer *any scrutiny* and basically legitimises rampant racism, then puts on its β€˜innocent face’ and clutches its pearls at the rise of the far right…
What a grim betrayal of our democracy.
