Square image in a traditional painted style.
A young Highland man in tartan kilt and plaid sits on a rocky hillside, holding a sword upright with both hands resting on the hilt. He looks down and to the left with a solemn expression. He wears a red and green tartan, a dark jacket, cream stockings, and a Glengarry cap with a red pom pom.

In the background, a wide Highland landscape stretches into the distance with hills, water, and a cloudy sky. A Union Jack flag flies on a pole to the right side of the image.

Large white text across the sky reads:

“What are all the advantages which my country reaps from the union that can counterbalance the annihilation of her independence, and even her very name? Nothing can reconcile me to the terms.”

Below the quote, smaller white text reads:

– Robert Burns (1790)

The Labour Government spends 𝘴𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 more on defence in the South of England than across the whole of Scotland, and isolates us from the EU defence fund. So much for "safer together".

Over £10,000,000 of public money has been spent policing the proscription of Palestine Action.

The Labour Party has spent £700,000 defending the ban in court - and will spend more appealing the ruling that it’s unlawful.

That money could fund more than 3,500,000 free school meals.

Believe in Scotland has won the backing of 65 MSPs from the SNP, Greens and independents, calling for an end to Scottish households paying the highest standing charges in the UK.

NOT ONE unionist MSP supported it despite 000's of emails from constituents

Anyone in Scotland convinced by Anas Sarwar allegiance to Scotland? He in all his time as Labour leader has not contributed to the Scottish budget nor has supported it.He simply finds a grievance and milks it . If he was interested in Scotland he would declare as an Independent Scottish Labour Party

Why do the BBC employ this poor excuse of a presenter?
Every week she spouts the line ''Our audience reflects the general voting intentions of the country''.
The country.. Why then are the SNP rarely on, Plaid rarely on, Greens rarely on?
It's always Labour, Tories ,Reform & some right wing journo

NEW: Read this terrific piece @virginiaheffernan.bsky.social for @thenerve.news in which she unpicks Edge.org, the hugely influential 'salon' funded by Epstein & threaded through with race science & eugenics.

Investment in land to avoid inheritance taxes and getting paid for it through agricultural subsidies by the public purse. It’s the systematic movement of money from the likes of you and I to the very rich. a feature not a bug.

Yesterday: we exposed the terrifying extent of corporate capture in British politics

Three Labour select committee chairs came out calling for urgent action in response

Today: Labour government's Elections Bill lands. Does almost *nothing* to tackle any of the issues we exposed. 🤦

Scotland leading the other nations of the UK as ever.
Westminster has no new policies, they just eventually adopt Scotland's excellent plans and systems years later, banging on as if they came up with it.

When hunger rises, migration follows. The world is too interconnected for “walls” to be a viable strategy. If we want global stability, we must invest in reducing inequality and poverty -- it’s the only way everyone wins.

Morgan McSweeney has resigned

Lots of reasons for it but among them is our revelation on Thursday evening that McSweeney’s think tank paid a PR firm to investigate journalists.

McSweeney was across that decision.

Still so many questions to answer about it

What links Jeffrey Epstein and Keir Starmer’s government? A thick seam of contempt | Nesrine Malik We’re often told the PM is a ‘decent’ man. But in appointing Peter Mandelson he chose political convenience over doing right by trafficked women and girls, says Guardian columnist Nesrine Malik

Nesrine Malik is probably the most intelligent and insightful columnist the Guardian has. I salute her. This latest article firmly excoriates the empty void that is Starmer and the unprincipled charlatans who follow him and his shallow creed.
