Friendly, shy squid person. Fairly lewdsome so ๐Ÿ”ž. Nonbinary. Still unsure how bios work. Sort of a Vtuber? She/He/They, anything works long as you're polite.

Mecha-gal is near constantly connected to the internet; still barely understands 90% of memes.

And between this and the "Can call, doesn't like to" from yesterday, really realizing how much I use that design trope of...maybe not "subverting" but deviating from the normal for any given ability. >.>'

Bit of both to the point I call her a space-squid, lol. The tentacles are loosely based on actual squid-tentacles (with the big difference being hers don't have suckers) but her lore and some other design elements are very "friendly eldritch being from space." ^^

Congrats on the 3k! And like...mood. OCs are just so much fun!

This is my main one, Clea. She loves darker purples and black. Here's to a fun raffle!

She could direct her speech into just the phone-call and be completely silent to the immediate area. Or having a conversation with one person while speaking to another on-call at the same time.

In reality she does neither. Cause like me (and many others) she doesn't like making phone calls. XD

Missed yesterday and almost forgot about today...whoops. >.>;

Doing more designing on the mecha-gal and it's so fun to figure out how I want her tech to work, even with sci-fi hand-waving. Like, she doesn't need a phone; she is a phone. Texting is as easy as thinking.

Calling on the other hand...

One of the other characters I've been working on is basically a mecha-gal. Don't think I'm gonna do this for her but I had the thought of robot characters with portions of them made of that translucent colored plastic on electronics from the 90s.

I wonder if they'd be okay seeing into themselves...

Hope you feel better soon, Harper! Keep resting up and be careful about pushing too much once you feel better; I've had it happen where I go "Oh yeah I'm fine," do too much, and then backslide. It's not fun.

Define your music with 10 artists

-Clean Tears
-Crush 40
-Bump of Chicken
-Official Hige Dandism
-Peppsen
-Sonic OST
-Pokemon OST
-Mario OST
-[Whatever random one-off songs I remember]
-...uhhhhhhhhh

...okay so my musical preference is narrower than I thought. >.>;

Bad headache all day so couldn't think of much on character details, but I'm finally working on someone other than Clea.

Decided to do this in some form everyday in November. Both to get back in the habit of it AND to get me to actually post thoughts here instead of liking art.

Also only just noticed how rough these notes are AND that even on max size, my scanner cut off the left and right edges of the sketchbook...fun!

Still sharing though, cause I honestly love designing characters and I feel too many are nervous about doing it themselves. If I can do this, you can too๐Ÿ’œ

A sheet of various sketches detailing physical attributes of Clea's tentacles; from how they hold or interact with objects to their physical features and limits. Several notes read as follows:
-Long Rigid Objects, Without suckers, Clea's tendrils need to wrap tightly to object in order to grip them. Rarely are there "gaps" in her grip as continuous contact is easier for her to hold than "pinching" the object.
-Small Rigid Objects, For smaller objects, like the example pencil, Clea frequently uses the tip of her tendril in a "pinch" grip. These are usually light enough to not cause fatigue.
-"Pinching" Side view, with arrows indicating where the grip force is coming from and a note that this is capable anywhere and not just the end.
-"Flimsy" Objects, Less solid items, like paper and cloth, are also easier to pinch in her tendrils. Depending on the item this may by the only way to do so without damaging them. Paper, for example, crumples if she coils it.
-Aside from their color, there is no difference in the two sides of Clea's tentacles; along with a view showing that about 60% is the darker purple.
-Even without bones, there is a limit to how comfortably Clea's tendrils can twist. Small, tight twists are doable, but unpleasant.
-(An overhead view depicting how the tendrils are connected to the rest of her) Clea's tentacles are connected near her hips. Each side (left & right) are equidistant from her hip bones, with one in front and one behind.
-Very small or delicate items are difficult for the tentacles to hold. Coins, for example, are almost impossible to pick up directly.
-Given their anatomy, the tendrils are exceptionally bad at pushing large objects, even if Clea herself is braced. They are, however, very good at pulling objects and especially so when braced and/or given a grip point.

This is the sketch and note sheet I mentioned in my last post. This was so much fun to do and it felt good to get some finer details down onto paper, even with my basic art skills.

Transcriptions are in the alt-text if you need 'em. I know my handwriting is scratchy and rough, lol

Honestly think it looks great; the text is readable for both the single and double speech bubbles. Outlines feel just the right width as well not too big to be distracting but big enough to function.

Great work!

Been doing a lot of fun creative work on sketching out how Clea's tentacles work. Not only has it been great to draw up a paper like this (and I mean draw literally cause I'm sketching examples) but it also taps into how much I love seeing characters doing things with their non-human anatomy.
