A plot of the brightness of the star Qatar-9 over time, showing the characteristic dip as a Jupiter-sized exoplanet passes in front of it from our perspective. Plotted below that are the lightcurves of 4 comparison stars, which help to remove the effects of light pollution, atmospheric seeing, and other confounding factors that can affect the data analysis.

Success! The transit lightcurve of the hot Jupiter Qatar-9b! This one was harder due to sudden unexpected clouds right before the transit that made it impossible to capture much of a pre-ingress baseline. The star itself is also so dim I needed a 3-minute exposure to get the right SNR. Very noisy.
