They are amazing resources of knowledge, and I hear all the time about the good work they do encouraging young readers, connect people to community programs, supporting seniors…and that’s often all in a day’s work!

and a library goer with my family!

I could recommend you a book but libraries offer so much - from books to community space, movies and digital media, tech and other borrowable items - that I would recommend you go chat with the amazing librarian at your local branch! /2

We’re turning the page on Library Month πŸ“– but don’t judge a book by its cover…because we love libraries all year long!

I love supporting and celebrating all of the amazing work that libraries do to serve communities across BC, as both the Minister responsible for literacy programs… /1

Tiny homes, a mighty difference There’s a lot of talk around town lately about the tiny homes project proposed for 616 Okanagan Avenue East. As a longtime Wiltse School parent, my social feeds are full

Powerful op-ed about #TinyHomes in #Penticton:

β€œβ€¦part of the Heart and Hearth Program, a thoughtful, community-based plan from BC Housing and the Province that includes employment and life-skill development, mental health services, and access to treatment.”

Complex-care housing is making a real difference for residents like J.T.

The supports that complex-care housing provides can help people establish stability, safety, build connections and break the cycle of homelessness.

In contrast to the horrible rental news out of Ontario this week, I have a government in my current province who are actively trying to make homes more accessible and affordable. πŸ’žThank you.

I’ve let Mayor Sim know that we won’t be calling Park Board legislation (Bill 26) for second reading this Fall.

The City of Vancouver has more work to do clarifying their intended direction, including working with Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Here to start off your Monday with a wrap-up of what happened last week, during the second week of the fall sitting of the Legislative Assembly! This is just a small peek into the work our government is doing to make life better for all British Columbians, and we’ll be back for week 3. #bcpoli

This is the next step at 616 Okanagan Ave. E. as a site for up to 50 new temporary tiny homes with on-site supports, helping people get on a pathway to permanent housing with dignity, safety, and care.

Take a look at our previous Heart and Hearth location in Kelowna in the pics above ⬆️

And we got here the right way: supporting affordability by making 20% of the 133-unit BC Builds-funded tower to be rented below market rate, and supporting our neighbours who were in the former supportive housing site to move into other permanent community housing.

So happy to break ground at Douglas/Caledonia in Victoria on more than 500 new homes!

With a community plaza, retail, and a childcare centre for 44 kids, this will be a wonderful home for Victoria families.

More good work to do.

BC Fruit Growers Association says this is the largest cherry cropΒ  in the province's history Castanet - Oct 1, 2025 News headline over cherry tree photo.

After years of devastating crop losses caused by extreme weather, this season’s record-breaking cherry harvest is a hard-earned win for BC tree fruit farmers. Let's keep supporting growers in our communities as they recover and adapt to protect future harvests.
