Lovely to have spent the week in Liverpool for #UACES2025. Great to catch up with colleagues and friends, and to learn what’s going in European Studies. Thanks to the amazing @uaces.bsky.social team for organising.

Had a great few days in Lille for the European Universities Continuing Education Network conference. Always helpful to be reminded of the value of sharing experiences and insights with colleagues elsewhere.

That’s a wrap for #PSA25. Lovely to be invited to talk about supporting pedagogical research and colleagues on teaching and scholarship pathways. Interesting talks on EU politics, local politics, and community education. Wonderful to catch up with colleagues. Thanks @polstudiesassoc.bsky.social

I much prefer a room with moveable (proper) tables and (proper) chairs that can be reconfigured to meet the needs of the class (of course returning the room to the layout depicted in the poster next to the door so not to upset the aforementioned Director of Estates).

These chairs are the worst. Around a third in any given space are in a perpetual state of disrepair. They’re uncomfortable and provide no meaningful writing space. Often too many crammed into a room due to the β€˜space utilisation’ algorithm, the logic of which is known only to the Director of Estates

Very sad to see this. @ukandeu.bsky.social has, and continues to, put out important work on UK-EU relations which is rigorous and accessible, and is a model of how social science research can inform public debate. Proud to have played a small part with the post-Brexit fisheries governance research
