I find episode 2 oddly soothing. One of the things about that whole series is that it captures the quiet bleakness of the early 1980s very well

Interesting article. Lewis Goodall has a very noticeable style of writing / speaking doesn't he. He loves Anaphora, the "rule of three" and "climax" in his use of words. In this case the repetition of "Here was / is a vice president..." Often makes him sound like he's giving a sermon.
