03.08.2025 17:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Bruce Harrell signed a pledge for us to be a climate champion when running for election, and Harrell then to his credit hired Jessyn Farrell to run OSE. Harrell has a couple token climate awards from C4 cities. BUT Harrell has been underwhelming on climate with the Comprehensive Plan.
03.08.2025 17:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Not oil & gas. It is ideological billionaire Libertarians that are pushing this, notably Robert & Rebekah Mercer who finance Heartland & are early funders of Republican candidates. They fear the consequences of the science being correct bc that means more cooperation & government leadership.
03.08.2025 17:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I see a lot of familiar names in this list. Who I donβt see is Robert & Rebekah Mercer.
03.08.2025 15:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Politics. Politics. Politics. Middle class sees no benefit for themselves. Why would they support broad decarbonization efforts?
01.08.2025 16:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Someone please tell Chris Gregoire and Brad Smith (Microsoft Vice Chair/President) this as they are pursuing public/private partnership for the Cascadia Innovation Corridor ULTRU High Speed Rail project. Rail professionals say the Brightline model doesn't make sense in Pacific NW and can't work.
31.07.2025 20:53 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0The biggest failure in energy policy is how solar incentives are targeted only for very wealthy (home owners) and very poor (community solar). Those renting a home or those with bad sites or roofs in poor mechanical condition don't participate and don't benefit. That is frankly bad politics.
31.07.2025 20:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Solar is the gateway drug to other electrification--EVs, heat pumps, etc. First solar and the next thing is an EV in the driveway.

30.07.2025 20:51 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Face it, John Christy is just really BAD at science. He has pompously parading his satellite data before congressional committees for decades, giving it more credibility than it deserves. Doesn't share his code. And then other scientists have to go in and clean up his mess.

David Graeber in his book "Debt: The First 5000 Years" documents extensively how debt is the motivation behind a host of history's cruelest actions. Cortez conquering the Aztecs for example. Seeing the same thing in modern day Russia in the fighting in Ukraine.
30.07.2025 17:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Why doesn't anyone ever talk about how John Christy is BAD at science? We've seen him overstate the confidence in his satellite data before Congressional committees for decades and then others point out the errors and clean up the mess.

Undocumented workers affect the ability of documented immigrants who follow the rules to obtain better pay and jobs.
