Bruce Harrell signed a pledge for us to be a climate champion when running for election, and Harrell then to his credit hired Jessyn Farrell to run OSE. Harrell has a couple token climate awards from C4 cities. BUT Harrell has been underwhelming on climate with the Comprehensive Plan.

Not oil & gas. It is ideological billionaire Libertarians that are pushing this, notably Robert & Rebekah Mercer who finance Heartland & are early funders of Republican candidates. They fear the consequences of the science being correct bc that means more cooperation & government leadership.

I see a lot of familiar names in this list. Who I don’t see is Robert & Rebekah Mercer.

The biggest failure in energy policy is how solar incentives are targeted only for very wealthy (home owners) and very poor (community solar). Those renting a home or those with bad sites or roofs in poor mechanical condition don't participate and don't benefit. That is frankly bad politics.

Solar is the gateway drug to other electrification--EVs, heat pumps, etc. First solar and the next thing is an EV in the driveway.
