The greatest win I've had for trans stuff is when people just see me living and genuinely interacting with them. They get to go, "oh this is a person, not a set of stereotypes I've been predisposed to believe as reality." It helps break the wall of their discomfort and they approach me more evenly.

this is kinda why I think the argument that trans women are somehow new to oppression and bigotry is laughable. my experience actually improved somewhat once I started passing with some regularity. not great mind you, but I wasn't getting beaten and [redacted] as much anymore. relatively, of course

honestly I've been lucky with how little transphobic harassment I've gotten in my adult years. my childhood is another story but I won't go too into that for my own mental health

once I was walking my dog and this guy was hanging out along the trail with 2 big german shepherds. he called me a freak and tried to get his dumbass dogs to attack me (we were in the middle of nowhere) but thankfully he hadn't actually trained them so they just sat there. I just walked away

the lady at the office was nice and spent an hour on the phone trying to get it fixed, until she finally noticed the m on my license. all that niceness evaporated and I got a lecture about how I should have just told the random guy on the phone that I'm trans. bitch that isn't his business or yours

not exactly related but once I was trying to get power service set up for a new apartment and hadn't changed my gender yet (back then it was harder to do) and then guy at the power company refused to set it up in my name bc I didn't sound like a guy. I had to go to the office in person to do it
