The report finds that the current U.S. target is misaligned with both science and climate justice. This comes as President Trump announces the U.S. will withdraw from the Paris Agreement in early 2026.

The U.S. NDC aims to cut net GHG emissions by 61–66% below 2005 levels by 2035. But using the ED-GCB model, we find:
– 3x overshoot under equal per capita share
– 5x overshoot when equity is fully considered (responsibility, capacity, development rights)
