'Culture' can be a bit of a minefield in a post-colonial country like #Canada. But I have to agree with Thomas d’Aquino and Susan Peterson d’Aquino that culture needs to be a key element in the country's reorientation as old alliances slip and new identities are formed.

Lovely. I remember the RCI towers being there, but I'm guessing they've been gone for quite some time. Your concentration on the big skies also reminds me a bit of the Prairies -- a little bit of Saskatchewan in Atlantic Canada. 😉

Spinal Tap II reunites Nigel Tufnel, David St Hubbins and Derek Smalls (played by Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer) as they get together for a final concert, more than 40 years after the 1984 mockumentary that made their name. I sometimes wonder who is paying the bills for the Convoy remnant that still stands outside Parliament every day with banners and bullhorns. They moved from hating Trudeau to hating Carney in a heartbeat, so it all looks pretty contrived.

For the many people who comment without even bothering to read… This is about family reunification for spouses and children over 18. Not cousins, not grandparents, not aunts, etc. Would you like to be separated from your spouse or child for up to sometimes THREE years? It’s inhumane.

Thank you for that. And I hope that your fellow Vermonters will appreciate that although a slump in tourist trade is bad for business, a rapid slide into authoritarianism is even worse for every aspect of life. And needs to be resisted.

Poor reporting by the CBC trivializes the impact of the Trump presidency on Canada. The issue is not Vermont's affection for us (although that is a nice gesture), our low dollar (it was low last summer too), or construction (get real).

It's threats to our sovereignty. Not hard to understand.

A graphic titled "First-past-the-post Decision Making" describes how power is centralized under the current voting system. It lists four points: "Cabinet acts as a focus group for the Leader," "Leader’s Office makes the decision," "Governing party MPs are issued talking points," and "MPs from parties representing the majority of voters are irrelevant." The text suggests a lack of meaningful input from most elected MPs.

This is what decision-making looks like under first-past-the-post.

One party controls everything, even if most voters did not choose them.
