I lived in the States for two years and found it to be a very insular world. I was only 90 minutes by road from the Canadian border, but I might as well have been from another planet. If an American doesn't win a medal or die in another country, you won't hear any mention of it in the US media.

Yes, Danielle Smith is a separatist Alberta's premier says she supports "a sovereign Alberta within a united Canada." Her actions tell a much different story β€” one that makes her position on the issue impossible to ignore.

I know you've heard that a federal judge ordered the release of 5 year old Liam Conejo Arias and his father, and that they're now home.

But did you look at the judge's order?

It's less than 2.5 pages and well worth a minute. "Jesus wept."

Lots of talk about trust and audience share, but little about what might underpin all of that. Do things like independence, integrity, courage, accuracy, evidence or facts that might be inconvenient to powerful interests enter into the equation?

The Don River was once so polluted with waste, garbage + chemicals that it caught on fire. The water itself, which flows towards Lake Ontario, was so inhospitable that it hosted life’s very antithesis. Now, researchers are starting to see a rebirth. For @nationalobserver.com
