A 2x faster Rollup? β€” Insights | Thundraa On our Rollup optimization pull-request and the nuances behind it.

I recently landed a 2x speedup optimization in Rollup, as I was exploring the @rolldown.rs benchmarks.

Here I wrote my journey on how I came up with it and how I found out after 8 months while writing this piece that in fact, it is not a 2x optimization.

Introducing Tab @bomb.sh/tab is an open source library that brings shell autocompletions to JavaScript CLIs

Introducing Tab!

Tab makes it easy to add shell autocompletions to your JavaScript CLI.

Tab has already been adopted by the @cloudflare.social @nuxt.com and @vitest.dev CLIs. Are you next?

this mean npm going down won't affect those leveraging this way of publishing packages. it's like everyone owning their own thing.

did not continue it because the scheduel went a bit harsh, but would love to explore it again.

23.01.2026 09:01 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

i literally had an experiment for a new "npmjs" to potentially make something like `npm add nuxt.com` or `npm add nuxt.com/package` the mainstream thing to be done.

this would help us be more decentralized and we'd get rid of the fights over npm package names already being taken.

i'm writing a blog post around rollup, bundling and an optimization fix that landed lately in rollup.

if anyone would like to have a look, i'd be really happy. lmk.

indeed, seeing other CLIs in other ecosystems having smooth autocompletions was the main motivation behind tab.
