Well, rather than just launching into strategy/life/whatever advice, just ask first.

I wouldn't call it 'teasing out'. More 'checking in'. It's a fairly direct way to ask, whereas 'teasing out' often has connotations of something more indirect.

"May I make a suggestion?"
"Can I offer some starting advice?"
"Would you like some feedback?"

I would suggest that strategic advice (and feedback/advice in general, not just in games) should be an opt-in thing.

But there's also value in folk doing something over and over, iterating between games, and trying to use their expert knowledge to focus on the overall polish rather than novelty.
