Also, why kid lit events are the best: to my right during this author talk, I heard playful shouts from kids tumbling around on giant hay bales, while to my left every now and then, someone would go shooting down a slide. (It was at the Children’s Museum)

Unapologetically read what gives you joy and strength and ignites a fire inside. Arm yourself with facts, with stories, with possibilities. There are those who don’t want you to know all you can be. Who want to imprison you with woe. They want you small. Devour words and build to dizzying heights.

That’s a very important and helpful distinction! I also think it takes a little time and practice to develop that sense for identifying which feedback is helpful. #kidlitchat
