My favorite thing right now is the r/marbles subreddit. I don’t know anything about marbles but it’s just guys posting pictures of marbles and then everyone in the comments section loses their mind like “Wow amazing score!! I’m so jealous!!!!”. I love it.

I made the mistake of using the musicians friend support chat box to ask about their return policy. After I ended the chat, my phone immediately rang with a sales call from them and I got a text 10 minutes later. This is super creepy and guarantees I will never use their chat box again.

I'm terrible at habit forming, but I started jogging every day a few months ago. The trick is I make my kids go jogging too. I know that *they* need to exercise, and they will always be my priority. It's hard to prioritize myself. I bet you're wired the same way.

Pretty sure it is! And from what I understand you can get a cheap zigbee adapter instead of the Phillips hub. Probably going to pick one up next week.

Home Assistant Open source home automation that puts local control and privacy first. Powered by a worldwide community of tinkerers and DIY enthusiasts. Perfect to run on a Raspberry Pi or a local server.

Finally tried out www.home-assistant.io and I’m hooked. Got a cheap used Intel NUC box to try it out and it works great.

Just a reminder to clean your screen and keyboard before going to that work offsite. You won’t notice how disgusting it is until you have three of your coworkers all staring at your screen.

The most frustrating part of my day was trying to access the company provided Calm subscription. This is not a joke. 😐

Windsurf Editor by Codeium Tomorrow's editor, today. Windsurf Editor is the first AI agent-powered IDE that keeps developers in the flow. Available today on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

I've been messing around with codeium.com/windsurf lately, and it's failed in just about every non-trivial task I've asked it to do. It will do a whole bunch of *stuff*, then just kind of fizzle out. Seems like the technology is close, but not here yet.

Volta - The Hassle-Free JavaScript Tool Manager Volta: Start your engines.

Yeah this was a big disappointment. I used to be a big advocate of volta.sh, but their pnpm support has been "experimental" for years. Feels like development there has stalled, and seems like corepack isn't stable enough to use on critical systems.

Ripped corepack out of all our systems because of this... It was worse than not being able to install new versions. There was a buggy prefetch that shouldn't have been triggering that would error out, so even prebuilt images were running into this bug.

A bug in corepack ruined my day on Monday, bringing down systems when it absolutely shouldn't have. And, no we weren't doing something dumb like resolving dependencies at run time. Just throwing this out as a warning in case you're considering using it.

11 days into using @deno.land for Advent of Code and I'm hooked. It's fast. There's no bundle/compile step. Debugging is easy. Node feels backwards to me now.
