German logistics billionaire faces questions over Nazi-era legacy Klaus-Michael Kuehne has repeatedly declined to address growing evidence of his company’s wartime conduct

Interesting enough about Kuehne & Nagel but the @financialtimes.com (of all newspapers!) should know that the suggestion that German companies are only now being forced to engage with their difficult pasts is just nonsense - this has been a live topic for a good 30 years.

For me it's about working to ensure that the machine-like character of universities doesn't reproduce itself in our individual working habits. The downside: it takes a long time to produce books (or it does for me, at least).

The cordon sanitaire (which was always a bit of a myth, recall Alan Clark and the Monday Club crowd) between the Tories and the far right is now well and truly gone. But our media can't bring itself to acknowledge this disturbing fact.

The penny seems finally to be dropping for a managerial class that bought into the fetischisation of Darwinian competition as the key organising principle of the sector - with all the predictable consequences. Sadly, it's probably too late to reverse much of the damage.
