The dice math was mean and hurt my feelings. Our attacks missed, enemies crit succeeded on all of their saves, and they rolled stupid high damage on every hit.

I want a DnD wizard that gets to invent their own spells! I’m fine locking it behind a subclass, I’m fine with it being extremely restrictive, but I want the ability to invent spells without needing to beg my DM to allow homebrew.

I healed our Cleric, but holy cow this fight is not going well. Our best bet is to drop a ton of splash damage while they're crowded together and hope that our GM doesn't respond in time.

Oh god, the DM is doing maniacal laughter now.

We have the ability to do some splash fire damage, but our cleric is dying on the ground beneath the trolls, so he's right in the splash zone.

Cleric is down. We're in trouble, folks. We may need to run.

Things are NOT going well. Cleric is down to 2 hp. We've done no damage and taken a whole bunch of hits.

Welp. We found the rest of the trolls. Two regular trolls, plus the two baddies that we expected.

Our Cleric pried the doors fully open, and the GM is taking a VERY. DRAMATIC. PAUSE... to describe what's behind it the gate.

Oh, god, he went and grabbed the module.

I have managed to nag the gate troll enough that he opened the gates just enough for me to sneak through. Definitely a trap.

We've decided that it's time to scale the walls. I'm distracting the troll while our Rogue sneaks over the wall. He's going to try to shoot the troll off the wall using his drake rifle.

Another troll has appeared on the parapets. Still not letting us in. Still threatening to kill our citizenry.

I don't think this is the leader.

I killed the troll! This might be the first time in the entire campaign! Alchemist's fire is really good against trolls.

Our Warpriest Cleric got the first hit in and dealt a big pile of damage. Troll hit him once, then ran over to me.

Witch is trying to hit it with Scorching Blast to get a big pile of fire damage. Trolls really are the perfect enemy for our party.

I demanded surrender. The troll refused. Now we're rolling initiative.

One troll. This should be quick.

DM: "Roleplay that"

Cleric: "Come at me, bro"

Gate guard got sick of being an intermediary. Now there's a troll atop the gates talking nonsense to us.

Cleric hit it with Command: Approach. Failed the save.

Welp, folks, the trolls beat us here and apparently they conquered the city like an hour ago. As far as we can tell, they just walked right in.

Once we sort this out, we're raising an army.

We raced to our capital, Quora, and got there with no trouble other than my absolutely god-awful rolls to help steer the boat.

Now we need to mount a defense.

Governor Phteven of Lizardville has kept our raft and some poles. We're faster on the water because our Swashbuckler is a former pirate. Apparently the trolls passed Lizardville before we did, and they're in a hurry.
