In Windows I map the drive once in Explorer and it's available to any app from then on. Easy, efficient, effective.
Linux should be no different. Powerful doesn't need to mean abstruse.

If you're saying I still shouldn't do the task, then the OS needs to be better at properly integrating Samba shares into the directory tree automatically. Sure they can be added to places in Dolphin, but then load an FTP client and try to use that link. You can't. You can't even smb://xxx.xxx it.

No. Stop. I have a task to do, and I want to do it right, but also in a reasonable amount of time w/a tool that provides me some guardrails. Or should I hand-edit every file to load the OS?
Some desperately want it to the be the Year of the Linux Desktop but are fine with the idea that the GUI is a second-class citizen and users who are at the point of needing network mounts should "git gud".
No. It's Linux that needs to up their game. Critical functions need easy to use tooling.
Getting closer to my big Linux transition off Windows and I need to mount Windows network shares permanently in Linux - why, in 2025, do I still need to edit an file, which, if messed up, can make the machine unbootable? (fstab)
It's crazy how so many people think is is still fine.
Yes.

If you ever need to find old DNS values in Cloudflare, but can't see what they were in the audit log webview like all the support threads say you allegedly can - download a CSV log export. They're in *there* buried in JSON.
For some reason they took the old values out of the web view!
When the feed is boring, that's your cue to go have an experience with something that'll make it less boring for yourself and others later.

I will miss the fictional Hulk Hogan.
I'm glad it worked!

This isn't Edge.
This isn't even Edge at home.
The face reminds me of some wrestler, but not Edge. And I can't figure out who.

This video by @brianzane.bsky.social really does a good job of summarizing my complicated feelings about Hulk Hogan, who was one of my childhood heroes.

I don't want to. I want to leave those memories pure.

Linux, take notes.
So you're running #Linux on an HP.
Suddenly you get an error like "import_mok_state() failed: Volume Full"
Google says you need to clear Secure boot keys in BIOS, but you can't, the option is greyed out!
For once, a Youtube video shows the solution. I tested on an HP Spectre, it works.
A flyer design for this event has been revealed!!
