Just realized that in a few hours’ time it will be exactly 10 years ago since Rush walked off the stage for the very last time in the Los Angeles Forum, August 1, 2015. The world feels emptier without them!

Tickets to rock concerts in the 1980s and 90s

Today (task:clean and tidy house) is turning out to be more chaotic and exhausting than I had hoped but my attempts to trace my concert history into the ungooglable 1990s have just had a boost from a huge find of concert tickets! Still missing quite a few but this helps a lot!

Just to illustrate how long waves from a #tsunami can keep going, this is a tide gauge record from Crescent City CA (known for its sensitivity to tsunami waves due to bathymetric and resonance effects) showing significant wave activity still continues 24+ hours after their first arrival. 🧪⚒️

I know this is a very trivial example but it exemplifies the way AI presents information as facts when it is simply missing from the training data - and it does make me extremely sceptical and dismissive of what comes in that Google AI box - but I know that others are less sceptical …

I was recently compiling (for fun) a list of all the concerts I’ve been to and when you get back to the 1990s there is often little online: but I would type (band name) (venue) (year) to try to get dates. Google AI replies confidently «There is no evidence that (band) played (venue)». (contd.)

CD of Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass

Great to hear this again! I bought a copy in 1996 when my choir in Leeds performed this version of the Glagolitic Mass but it was stolen (along with many other CDs in my student flat) - I found a copy in Berlin yesterday and couldn’t resist buying it again. Fantastic piece! #janacek #mšaglagolskaja

There are 2 storylines here:

- The one that paints a picture of action.

One says, "This is what's happening. There's nothing we can do about it."

The other, "This is what's happening. Unless we stop it."

Knowledge is power IF we create action from it.
