To be fair the ‘nurse calling’ language was the only contemptible part of this thread. O’Toole is largely left leaning, incredibly frustrated by the labour movement and around long enough to see old failings reemerge.

I don’t really understand why no click hunting columnist isn’t just stating the obvious - Connolly’s landslide victory explains the general malaise in turnout. She was the best candidate by a country mile so many just stayed at home to let it play out. Opinion poles found this weeks ago.

But his analysis here is entirely accurate. A socialist president has never led to a leftist government. We continue to vote for a vision of ourselves for presidency but for hard nosed local gains in the GE.

Time to cop on to ourselves now. A campaign ran with dignity and empathy needs to be promoted and celebrated at every turn, not bastardised for column inches.

Ireland's basic income experiment resulted in higher incomes and the economy benefited $1.39 per $1
YouTube video by Scott Santens Ireland's basic income experiment resulted in higher incomes and the economy benefited $1.39 per $1

Clip from our most recent episode of The Basic Income Show where we talked about Ireland's basic income experiment results and how artists increased their incomes from doing art thanks to their income base and how it benefited the economy and reduced welfare spending. Essentially it was win-win-win.

If you go back and watch the debates from 14 years ago MDH performed similarly. Descending into slightly cerebral and broken thoughts like Connolly. At least it’s been grown up sounding.

School history lessons minimise the role of women, report finds Campaigners say key stage 3 curriculum plays to misogny and teaches a ‘false version of the past’

This report is entirely valid, and I welcome it. However, glancing at the Key Stage 3 curriculum, I can see how it's happened -- there's little emphasis on social history or non-political biography

As someone who wrote these letters to literally hundreds of ‘celebrities’ for the L&H, the idea that it is still treated with an iota of significance when it is glammed up spam is hilarious. What a small man.

Demonising and/or as forgetting about underprivileged people is the reason they left the democrats

If I was an American democrat I would be spending most of my energy figuring that out rather than further demonising them.

Ten years ago, on this day 15 July, the Irish Oireachtas passed the Gender Recognition Act 2015 (An tAcht um Inscne a Aithint, 2015).
It was a piece of legislation that allowed me to live my life authentically & I'm forever grateful.
Despite what others may have you believe, the sky did not fall in.

Irish media - online and in print. Lots of podcasts (gave up on Left Wing and UK Times once SJ was on). Really enjoying the mini docs released on YouTube. Deleted X. Avoid ‘digest click bait’ style websites. Lots of my mates heavily into it.
