I don’t really understand why no click hunting columnist isn’t just stating the obvious - Connolly’s landslide victory explains the general malaise in turnout. She was the best candidate by a country mile so many just stayed at home to let it play out. Opinion poles found this weeks ago.

But his analysis here is entirely accurate. A socialist president has never led to a leftist government. We continue to vote for a vision of ourselves for presidency but for hard nosed local gains in the GE.

Time to cop on to ourselves now. A campaign ran with dignity and empathy needs to be promoted and celebrated at every turn, not bastardised for column inches.

I have read this story umpteen times and it never grows old.

This report is entirely valid, and I welcome it. However, glancing at the Key Stage 3 curriculum, I can see how it's happened -- there's little emphasis on social history or non-political biography

If I was an American democrat I would be spending most of my energy figuring that out rather than further demonising them.
