Everything Trump is doing now is a preamble for his regime's real goal: to invoke the Insurrection Act.

I don’t want to unduly alarm you, but you need to be aware of this imminent danger. It’s unfolding very rapidly. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/trumps-plan

We lost a warrior, a freedom fighter, a visionary, someone who changed the way I see the world. May Assata Shakur rest in power with the ancestors!

We are producing a generation unable and (somewhat) unwilling to think, read and write without relying on tech controlled by some of the most evil people on the planet to tell them what to think, read and write and they don’t seem to see the dangers of this dependency even if we point it out

Israel bombed and murdered the Prime Minister of Yemen along with several cabinet members, and there is zero outrage in Western media… it’s barely even a story. The level of impunity is breathtaking.

Israel is not an "ally" of the US. It is a proxy force. It is used to attack popular liberation movements across West Asiaβ€”and elsewhere in the global Southβ€”to prevent sovereign development and thus maintain the conditions for US capital accumulation.

It's my experience (from 25 yrs of teaching) that "learning management" tools like Canvas do nothing to facilitate student learning & make my job MORE, not less, time consuming. That additional time I put in contributes zero to improving the student experience. But Canvas gets our money regardless.

the crisis in which the University of Chicago is now engulfed -- one entirely of its own making, and which has led to the (hopefully temporary) suspension of admissions into numerous PhD programs in the humanities -- represents I think a seismic event in the history of American higher education

Given the rising mental/public health crisis of β€œAI psychosis” perhaps colleges and universities should stop promoting AI in the classroom. Already vulnerable to mental health crises, COVID-era students need social connection, critical thinking, and analog affirmation now more than ever.
