They aren't a continuation of the Arizona Coyotes. They are a completely new franchise, meaning no history before 2024. They acquired their assets from a Deactivated team, much like the Ravens bought out the Browns assets back in the 90's.

Correction: when The Utah team took the place of the deactivated Arizona Coyotes.
