I have so many questions now.

Ouch. I start every fiscal year with 140 hours, and sick time is additional. Now I realize how important unions are (we have one, and they announced at the start of this fiscal year that they finally got us separate paid sick leave… in exchange for requiring a doctor’s note, but still).

Meanwhile my workplace only pays out overtime in kind. One extra hour worked is one extra hour you can take off elsewhere. That has its upsides, though; for example, I can use PTO earned this way regardless of if the shift is covered or not.
